Introverted Entrepreneurs?

October 24th, 2008

Sometimes I can’t help but chuckle at the stereotypical entrepreneur we all envision. Tall (at least 6″3′), male between 30 and 45 years of age, big booming voice (HEEEEY JOHNNY!), oozing confidence out of every pore of their body, glad handing and networking extraordinaire.

In the following video I discuss the concepts of introvert and extrovert, why I believe that extroverted caricature I just described above is complete B.S., and why I think introverts have a place at the entrepreneurial table.

Excellent topic.. “Kill it” = love it!

I think this message is super important, because if you look around our country, a lot looks the same, and I think it’s because of messages like “you have to look like this, do that, and pursue those things” rather than our society encouraging true creativity. Corporate has become — huge, but dull. Probably one of the weaknesses of our capitalistic foundation. I think in reality though, if people were to pursue authenticity, and to see their dreams come to life in the exact way they dream them, then even our system of capitalism would be off the chain!

“Kill that shit”..

Hey I just posted a video of the CEO of HubSpot Dharmesh Shah talking about running a startup while being a self proclaimed introvert. Very interesting stuff.

His “nerdiness” is awesome and he really brings up some great points about the startup process.
